Top Hat 21
Top Hat 21 is a variant of blackjack. You still need to get cards up to the value of 21 but not going bust.
First chose a stake size. Top Hat 21 has a credit size of 20p up to £50. You can bet 1 to 10 credits per round. If you have enough money in the bank you can press the max bet button and it will place 10 credits for you. So on a £1 table this will be a bet of £10.
Just like with any other blackjack game, you are dealt 2 cards. You can then chose to stand or hit for another card. You keep hitting until you decided to stand or go over 21. In Top Hat 21, you can also get a 6 card trick (sometimes known as a 6 card Charlie) where you get 6 cards totally 21 or less. This pays the same as Blackjack which is even money on this game, so not much point in that rule here.
You can also do at the appropriate time, splits, double downs and take out insurance on your cards.
Split – You can split any pair. This doubles your stake automatically as you are essentially playing two separate hands. Use your basic blackjack strategy, so never split 10s or 5s. With split aces you only get 1 additional card.
Double Down – In Top hat 21 you can only double down on 10 and 11.
Insurance – If the dealer is showing an ace you can chose to select insurance. This is a side bet equal to half your stake which pays 3/1 if the dealer has blackjack. If not, then you just play the hand as normal. The effect is to get all your money back if you insure and the dealer has blackjack.
Double Up Bonus
If you win a hand, you can either take your winnings as normal or play the special double up game. In this game, the dealers card spins. You can either go high or low. Cards 2 – 7 are low, 9 – Aces are high cards, and an 8 is a draw and you get your money back. The odds on this are pretty good as there is no house edge. You can double up 5 times before you are forced to take your win.
