An Introduction to 21 Blackjack
21-card blackjack has quickly become a popular casino game enjoyed by online and offline players from around the world. Many theorize this game’s popularity is due to what seems to be a higher chance of winning odds.
The Objective
Skill, strategy, and chance all contribute to blackjack game play. Players of 21 blackjack will place their bet only against the dealer and not other players at the table. The game’s objective is to get a higher total card value than what the dealer or other players hold without exceeding a total of 21.
Face Card Values
Cards ranging from 2-10 carry the same face value as shown. Aces are either worth one or 11; it depends on what benefits the player more. And kings, queens, and jacks carry a 10 value. In the event of a “push,” or tie, between the dealer and player’s hand value, the game is a scratch – nobody loses wins.
A Natural
After all players throw down their first bets, the dealer will give each person two cards and also deal two cards for himself, with only one laying face up. The card laying face down is called the “hole card.” If a player gets 21 during the first round, it is referred to as a “natural” and that player will automatically win. The same rule applies to the dealer.
No Natural
If no one wins via a natural, the game will continue; players will either be able to “hit,” or receive more cards, or “stand,” which means the player declines being dealt anymore cards. Any player who chooses to hit but does not get a total of 21 can hit again. Players who exceed a total value of 21 will “bust” and instantly lose.
Showing the Cards
When all players are done hitting or standing, the dealer will reveal their hole card and the winner will be declared.
